What affects the price

  • Area cleared and the surface type (blowers work poorly on loose gravel)
  • Per-visit vs. seasonal pricing
  • Snowfall depth and whether it is dry powder or heavy wet snow
  • Add-on hand shovelling for steps and tight spots a blower cannot reach

When to book

Snow blowing suits properties where a truck plow does not fit or would damage landscaping. Book seasonally before the first storm, same as plow service.

Snow Blowing: common questions

Answers from the providers who do this work every day.

Snow blowing or plowing — which is right for my property?

Blowing is better for shorter driveways, paver or stamped concrete surfaces, walkways, and anywhere a plow has nowhere to push. Plowing is faster and cheaper on long, open driveways.

Does snow blowing damage a paved driveway?

Less than plowing. The skid shoes ride above the surface, so there is no blade scraping across it. That is a large part of why it is preferred on decorative and newer concrete.

Can it handle end-of-driveway plow ridge?

Yes, but slowly — that ridge is dense compacted snow. Expect it to add time and, on some contracts, a surcharge. Ask whether it is covered before the first storm.
